Listed below are some definitions that may assist you in making your home care decisions.

Companions/Homemakers:

Companions and homemakers provide general activities in the home to assist and/or instruct an individual in managing their own household. Generally speaking, this involves light housekeeping, shopping, meal preparation, and laundry and transportation services.

Services also include safety, comfort and friendly assistance with tasks such as running errands, assistance with phone calls and correspondence.  They provide just the right amount of help to allow the independent senior to remain safely at home.

Home Health Aides:

Home Health Aides have satisfactorily completed a competency evaluation, including “hands-on” performance of many skills.  Home Health Aides assist clients with the activities of daily living similar to a companion with addition to bathing and dressing.

Certified Nurse’s Aide:

Our Certified Nurse’s Aides Have completed specific training courses, passed the State Nurses Aide Exam and are licensed by the Department of Public Health.  They are qualified to perform all of the tasks done by Home Health Aides, with addition to personal care, monitoring medication schedules, transfer assistance and hospice care.

Live-In Services:

An aide resides in the client’s home full time, providing 24 hours supervision and coordination of the activities of daily living.  Separate sleeping quarters for the aide is required.

Hourly Services:

The aide does not reside in the client’s home, an hourly schedule is implemented.
